Jorge is a combat veteran who brings over 8 years of military experience and leadership to the organization; he works with the leadership team to set and implement the organization’s strategic vision. Throughout his career in the Army, Bermudez served in the 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; 2nd Infantry Division, Camp Hovey, South Korea and in the 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colorado. His deployments include Bosnia and Herzegovina (2002) and Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in which he served as a squad leader (2004). He is Air Assault qualified and has received numerous awards and decorations. Bermudez has a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice (2009) and a Master in Public Administration (2015) from John Jay College of Criminal Justice. He’s also a retired New York City Police Officer.

Nels is one of the original founding members of G.I. GOLD, as well as co-owner of the Tomcat and Warthog claims. He brings a lifetime of knowledge of the mountain where the claims are located and a passion for sharing its beauty and bounty with anyone that shares interest. He began prospecting on the GPAA claim in the area in 2001 as a hobby which quickly turned into a passion. In the last 20+ years, he’s built an extensive knowledge of how gold travels and where it’s most likely to deposit. Though he has no military background, he would like to use this opportunity to give back to those who have fought for the freedom of this country, hopefully changing many lives for the better.
